In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Taipei Economic and Cultural office in Miami together with Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Coral Springs Chinese Culture Association, organized a “Taiwan’s Folk Sports Troupe Performance” in Coral Springs Center for the Arts on May 19, 2011.
Mr. Ray Mou, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural office in Miami, welcomed the Keelung Chung Cheng Middle School Folk Sports Troupe and expressed his appreciation to the Coral Springs Chinese Culture Association for their effort in organizing the event. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Republic of China (Taiwan) and the City of Fort Lauderdale, Mr. Mou wished the presentation of the Troupe could be an introduction of the Taiwanese culture to Florida.
The performance program included Chinese Diabolo Juggling, Tops Twirling, Rope Skipping, Martial Arts and Folk dances. Nearly ninety-minute performance brought excitement and laughter to more than 700 audiences at that night. Awards of appreciation were presented to the Troupe at the end of the event.
The Keelung Chung Cheng Middle School Folk Sports Troupe was organized in 1975 by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in line with the policy that places equal emphasis on high morality, intelligence, physique, teamwork and art. The members of the troupe are amateur performers and trained outside regular school hours. The troupe has been invited to perform in large festivals abroad in different Continents.
