Director General Chou, accompanied by Deputy Director General Antonio Fan, was invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Consulate General of Guatemala’s new location in Coral Gables (Miami).
The ceremony was hosted by Mario Búcaro Flores, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala. In his speech, Minister Búcaro Flores warmly welcomed Director General Chou's delegation and emphasized that as Taiwan's diplomatic ally, Guatemala firmly supports Taiwan's freedom, democracy, peace, and sovereignty.
During the event, Director General Chou and Deputy Director General Fan pleasantly surprised Minister Búcaro Flores by sharing a video from Facebook featuring Minister Joseph Wu of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) promoting and enjoying coffee drinks made from Guatemalan coffee beans with his colleagues at the Ministry's plaza. Minister Búcaro Flores expressed great delight upon learning about this.
