4. Authentication of US Passport or US Driver’s License※ Our consular service jurisdiction covers four states, namely New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. We only accept documents produced within our service area. For documents executed out of our service area, please check the web link (Consular District) to find a competent mission.
Applicant’s (and the agent’s, if applicable) original ID and a photocopy.
US ID to be authenticated:
To have US passport authenticated: a notarized copy of US passport in color.
To have US driver’s authenticated: a notarized copy of US driver's license in color, plus a copy for filing.
Authentication Request Form;
A copy of the Applicant’s valid ID.
US ID to be authenticated:
To have US passport authenticated: a notarized copy of US passport in color. or
To have US driver’s license authenticated: a notarized copy of US driver's license in color, plus a copy for filing.
Chinese Translation
An English original and its Chinese translation are to be handled as 2 documents.
Should you need a Chinese translation authenticated, there are two ways to do it:
(A) The applicant signs on the Chinese translation in person onsite or, if by mail, Chinese translation should be notarized by a Notary Public; or
(B) With the English original authenticated by TECO, a Chinese translation can be notarized by a notary public in Taiwan.
Processing time, rate and payment
Regular: 10 working days at &15 per item.
Expedite (subject to capacity of this office): 5 working days at an extra fee $7.5 per item.
Chinese translation at $15 per item.
Payment by cash, money order or cashier’s check, payable to TECO in NY; we don’t’ accept credit card or personal check.
How to submit an application
By appointment: Our consular service is available from 09:00 to 11:00, Monday through Thursday. Click to make an appointment online.
Walk-in: There is a limit of 25 walk-ins daily. We will start to handle walk-in customers from around 11:00 to 13:00 after customers by appointment have been served. Walk-ins can take a number from 08:45 on a first-come-first-served basis.
Drop-off: An application placed in an envelop can be dropped off in our mail box at the ground floor lobby during our office hours. (Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm)
By mail: Please mail your application to TECO in NY, Consular Division; Address: 1 E 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017.
To claim your document
Onsite pickup: Have your receipt or ID ready and (A) slots open for pick up are from 15:00 to 16:00 on cited date and following Tuesday and Friday or (B) by online appointment or walk-in-take-a-number during office hours.
By mail: Prepare a self-addressed-stamp-affixed return envelope. By doing so, the applicant agrees to take the risk of lost or damage during delivery, TECO-NY will not be liable for any incident.
By courier: Please provide a shipping label printout or email PDF file to consular.ny@mofa.gov.tw
