If you have found an Taiwan Passport overseas, please call immediately the Taiwan diplomatic or consular mission, where you reported it lost or stolen, so as to validate your lost or stolen passport. If your passport was reported lost or stolen for more than 48 hours, the the found passport is no longer valid.
Why you must report your passport lost or stolen
Your passport is a vital tool in proving your identity overseas. By reporting the loss, your passport can be immediately and permanently cancelled, and cannot be used to enter or leave any country, thereby significantly reducing the chances of its misuse by terrorists or other criminals. Border control authorities in Taiwan and abroad will confiscate any cancelled passport that comes to their notice. It is an offence under the Taiwan Passports Act to use a cancelled Australian passport with a penalty of imprisonment or a fine or both.
