May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month-a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. The Taiwanese Americans community in the greater Seattle area also has been joining the celebrations since 2001, when the first “Taiwanese American Heritage Week” was held. In the past few years, the “Taiwanese American Heritage Week” has been further expanded to month-long festivities.
This year, The “Taiwanese American Heritage Week” will feature a traditional Taiwan dance and music performance “Light up Taiwan” by the National Taiwan University of Sport, a series of culinary event-“Taste of Formosa”, popular Taiwan Night Markets in Bellevue College and University of Washington, the 1st Seattle Taiwanese American Film festival, including a documentary film “Looking for” nominated by 2018 Seattle Film Festival. These events are meant to raise awareness and celebrate the cultural and history of Taiwan and its people.
We cordially invite you to join these enjoyable and entertaining activities!
