Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle held 110th National Day Reception at Seattle Sheraton on October 7th which was hosted by Director General and Mrs. Daniel K. C. Chen.
In Director General Chen’s remarks, he mentioned that Taiwan and the United States share strong and special relations, especially the donation of PPEs and vaccines during the pandemic proves that the virtue is never left alone. He also thanked legislators from the State of Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming for passing resolutions in support of Taiwan this year.
Director General Chen stressed that though Taiwan faces tremendous challenges like China’s suppression, Taiwanese people will remain firm in upholding the core values of democracy and freedom.
TECO in Seattle also invited local Taiwanese companies including China Airlines, Eva Airlines, WaferTech, AIDC, Da-Li, Atomrock, to showcase their achievements in the Pacific Northwest by broadcasting their introductory films. Guests also enjoyed Taiwanese dumplings from Din Tai Fung Restaurant as well as Kavalan Whiskey from Taiwan.
Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (D-WA), Idaho Department of Agriculture Director Celia Gould, Montana Department of Labor Commissioner Laurie Esau, Montana Department of Commerce Deputy Director Adam Schafer, Washington Representative Sharon Tomiko Santos, My-Linh Thai, and DNC member Sharon Mast, Consular Association of Washington along with consular corps from many countries, and federal, state, county and city government officials also joined the event with overseas Taiwanese community.
