Required Document:
- A completed application form.
- Completed Power of Attorney forms, letter of authorization, disclaimer of interest, or any other documents to be authenticated.
- The photocopy of the applicant's VALID passport or driver’s license. ( We have to inspect the original passport/ID and take the photocopy)
- If an applicant under 18 years old, the applicant’s parents must co-sign the document to be authenticated. A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate must also be provided to prove the parent-child relationship.
[Attention] If the applicant is a ROC (Taiwan) citizen/national and intends to use their Chinese name, he or she must submit an unexpired ROC (Taiwan) passport, New Version of National ID card or Household Registration Transcript dated within 3 month. If a foreigner cannot provide any form of official identification with a Chinese name, he/she may only use identification his/her English name.
- Bring form (Power of Attorney, letter of authorization, disclaimer of interest, or any other document) and sign it in front of consular officer.
Attention : Applications by mail or through an agent:
You do not need to mail the original Taiwan passport; a copy will suffice (no notarization required, but the signature field in the inner page of your Taiwan passport original must be signed). Copies of all other IDs (such as a U.S. passport, Green Card, driver's license, etc.) must be notarized by a notary public. Each document submitted for authentication must be signed in the presence of a Notary Public within the consular district of this office (Northern California, Nevada, and Utah), and then the Notary Public must sign and stamp the document.
※ Apostille requirement: If the document involves real estate, inheritance, or a specimen signature certificate, the Notary Public’s signature and seal must receive an Apostille authentication from the local Secretary of State's office (California Secretary of State, Nevada Secretary of State, Utah Lieutenant Governor's Office) prior to the document’s submission to TECO.
After the aforementioned verifications have been completed, any additions or deletions will render the documents unacceptable.
Fee: US $15 per document.
Payment Method : Cash, cashier checks and Money Order (Make it payable to “TECO”). Credit card and personal check are not accepted.
Processing time will take 3 weeks once we receive the application.
Document Pick up/Delivery:
- Slots for walk-in pickup: from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on cited date or any following Monday through Thursday.
- Return by mail: please include either a self-addressed and stamped USPS Express Mail Envelope with $33.40 postage, or a priority envelope with $11.90 postage. From now on, we no longer accept UPS, FEDEX return mail.
International EMS postage: $76 (International mail services accepted only to those applicants residing outside the U.S.)
