Director General Scott Lai was invited to attend the San Francisco Bay Area Taiwan Chamber of Commerce (TCCSFBA) mask donation ceremony on 2/20. TCCSFBA donated 10,000 Taiwan-made medical masks to the California State Senator Dave Cortese's office. Senator Cortese was present to receive the donation.
In his speech, DG Lai explained that the Taiwan model has implemented effective prevention measures, making Taiwan one of the few countries in the world that can still maintain a normal life. He also elaborated the love and kindness of the people and government of Taiwan in assisting countries in fighting COVID-19. He is looking forward to an speedy economy recovery, when everyone returns to normal life.
Senator Cortese said that he had served as a Santa Clara County supervisor for 12 years, so he would like to take this opportunity to express his gratitude to the Taiwan government and people on behalf of the 2 million county residents.
He is now a California senator, so he also wants to express his gratitude and tribute to Taiwan on behalf of the 40 million Californians. 2021 is a brand new beginning, he said, and he believes that the access of vaccines will bring the epidemic under control, as if the light at the exit has been seen in the tunnel. He hopes that the United States can resume normal life and operations as quickly as Taiwan.
