An international conference on “Seeking the Truth Together: Christian – Daoist Dialogue” promoted by the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, the Taipei Baoan Temple Foundation and the Chinese Regional Bishop’s Conference took place at Taipei Baoan Temple on October 15 and 16, 2016.
Bishop Miguel Ayuso Guixot and Fr. Indunil Kodithuwakku, Secretary and Undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, respectively, travelled to Taiwan to attend the first Christian-Daoist meeting hosted by the President of the Taipei Baoan Temple, Hon. Wu-Jyh Liao. The promoters and organizers hope that this dialogue can become “ a beacon of light to our world torn asunder by wars, hatred, suspicion and fear” as indicated in one of the passages of the final statement.
Among the speakers, Rev. Msgr. Sladan Ćosić, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Apostolic Nunciature in Taiwan, addressed the participants by encouraging them “to make the greatest possible use of these two days to share with one another the perspective and approach on the ways of professing, living and celebrating our religious truths deeply rooted in our hearts and traditions.”
Other participants included Cardinal John Tong Hon, Bishop of Hong Kong, H.E. John Hung, Archbishop of Taipei, and Archbishop Felix Machado of the Federation of the Asian Bishops Conferences (FABC), India.
