Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Baushuan Ger, joined the Honorable Luke Browne, Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, in the hand-over ceremony of 4 ambulances from the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines held on March 20th, 2017.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Ambassador Ger stated that cooperation on health care between Taiwan and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has been a top priority in their bilateral cooperation in recent years. Taiwan’s Chunghwa Christian Hospital each year sends two medical teams to visit SVG and hosts training programs for Vincentian medical staff. As for the collaboration on education and human resources, six Vincentians are studying in the School of Medicine for International Students at the I-Shou University in Taiwan, a specially crafted program to train post graduate medical doctors. Two of them will graduate in this coming summer and return to SVG for internship which opens a new page for medical cooperation between the two countries. The four ambulances will further improve the emergency health care service and benefit the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Minister Luke Browne expressed his appreciation for the donation of the four ambulances by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). He stated that the relationship between Taiwan and SVG has been ever strong since two countries established diplomatic ties in 1981. Minister Browne stressed his admiration on Taiwan’s adherence to democracy and human right and vowed to speak out for Taiwan in international arena whenever necessary.
