Amb. Fiona Huei-Chun Fan of the Republic of China (Taiwan) handed over a symbolic cheque of US$40,000 to Mr. Anthony Regisford, Chairman of Invest SVG of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at the opening ceremony of "Everything Vincy Expo Plus 2023" on 26th October, 2023.On behalf of the people and government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Amb. Fan congratulated the people and government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for its 44th anniversary of independence, and pledged to continue standing with SVG for the welfare of both countries. She indicated that Taiwan had been sponsoring Everything Vincy Expo since 2018 and working with the government of SVG in the areas of infrastructure constructions, education, agriculture, information and communications technology (ICT), public health, women's empowerment and so forth.
Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, recognized Taiwan as an important partner in the nationl development of SVG. The Argyle International Airport (AIA) which was constructed with the financial and technical supports from Taiwan, was the foundation to promote SVG’s tourism industry. Recently, Taiwan provided loans to the “Kingstown Port Modernization Project”. The completion of the new port was expected to enhance efficiency, stimulate economic development and improve the welfare of Vincentian people. He welcomed the participation of exhibitors from Guyana and the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association in "Everything Vincy Expo Plus 2023", and encouraged more countries to join in the future.
With the assistance of Invest SVG and Taiwan Trade Center in Mexico City, the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the first time set up a booth showcasing bilateral cooperation and Taiwanese products and culture. The opening hours are 9am to 8pm from 26th to 29th October, 2023. (E)
