Ambassador Fiona Fan, in her capacity as head of diplomatic corps, attended the Inauguration Ceremony of the Eighth Governor-General of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Tuesday morning, 6 January 2026, to welcome the newly appointed Governor-General, H. E. Stanley John, who has been appointed by the King of United Kingdom, to begin his tenure of this high-ranking public service.
The newly appointed Governor-General John is highly respected and well-accomplished. He previously served as the leader of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Labor Party and a senator, and has also served in the judiciary and legal profession for many years. He was even invited to serve as a counsel to the Queen of England and is highly regarded by all sectors of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Under Governor-General John's guidance and with the active governance of the New Democratic Party (NDP) government led by Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Godwin Friday, the people have now high expectations for a bright future. Ambassador Fan joined the guests in a peaceful and auspicious atmosphere welcoming new year 2026 to witness the beginning of Governor-General John's service term.
Ambassador Fan also expressed her gratitude to former Governor-General H. E. Susan Dougan, a close friend, for her past contributions to the national operation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and her dedicated support for the cordial friendship and staunch partnership between Taiwan and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Ambassador Fan cherishes the years spent together with her and witnessed her love for Taiwan and her efforts in helping both countries attain numerous goals of national construction and development.
