Governor-General, Prime Minister attended the 105th ROC (Taiwan)’s National Day Reception hosted by the Embassy

The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) hosted a reception on October 4, 2016, in celebration of the 105th anniversary of the ROC (Taiwan). About 200 Vincentian guests attended the event.
Ambassador Baushuan Ger conveyed sincere condolences to the family of the victim during the Tropical Storm Matthew and sympathies to those who were impacted by the Storm. He elaborated Taiwan’s continued democratization and reform efforts, and outlined the vision of the Government and its Cross-Strait policy for the coming years under President, Dr. Tsai Ing-wen, who was inaugurated on May 20, 2016.
Appreciation was also expressed by Ambassador to the guests as St Vincent and the Grenadines has been an unwavering ally and has always been vocal to Taiwan’s participation the international arena.
Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sir Louis Straker both delivered remarks at the reception. Bilateral cooperation projects between the ROC (Taiwan) and St. Vincent and the Grenadines over the past 35 years of the diplomatic ties between the two countries were given positive reviews.
Prime Minister Gonsalves is currently leading the SVG delegation to attend the National Day Ceremony held in Taipei, Taiwan. (E)
