Representative Andrew H.C. Lee of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam was invited to view the art exhibit entitled "ALTERED EGO - An Exhibition," by Miss Shinny Chia, an artist and organizer of the event on 29 June, 2021.
The exhibit is organized by Shinny and her 17 fellow Bruneian young painters and artists showcasing dozens of mixed-media paintings, sculptures, photographs and installation arts. The exhibit
features artistic creations carrying themes based on the concept of identity, alter ego, person's normal and true original personality.
During Representative Lee’s visit, curators and artists offered a thorough guided tour and shared their creative ideas, hidden meanings, and appreciation angles on exhibited art works piece by piece. In addition to thanking them for their cordial reception and informative guided tour, Representative Lee expressed his admiration for creators’ full play on imagination by utilizing variety of themes, materials and media to create highly inspiring works. Therefore, he looks forward to facilitating more artists’ exchanges and visits between Taiwan and Brunei in the future, and is confident that through exchanging views on ideas and techniques, artists can explore more creative and thought-provoking art works.
Representative Lee also exchanged views with Pengiran Abd Wahab Hassan Al-Abbas, a veteran and well-known abstract painter in Brunei, and expressed respect for his passion, dedication, and achievements in art for more than half a century. His participation in this exhibition has not doubt inspired and encouraged more talented young Bruneians to engage in and devote themselves to artistic creation.
