Following the previous donation of 5 Taiwan-made wheelchairs in April 2021, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam launches another charity campaign by donating a photocopier to Pusat Ehsan on 16 December, 2021. The machine is presented to Datin Noraini Momin, Executive Trustee, by Representative Andrew H.C. Lee at Pusat Ehsan.
Datin Noraini warmly welcomes Representative Lee's visit, and expresses sincere gratitude to the generous gesture by the Representative Office. She also briefed Representative Lee on the challenges caused by the COVID-19 epidemic and how Pusat Ehsan has been coping with in terms of daily operations, conducting virtual classes and funding shortage in the past two years. Datin Noraini also shared a piece of wonderful news that the Pusat Ehsan has been officially granted by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, a status of establishing a formal curriculum and recruiting students starting from January in 2022. To meet the need of the Pusat Ehsan’s expansion, new spaces, facilities and sizable funding are needed. Any financial support from Brunei’s businesses community and private sectors are greatly appreciated.
Representative Lee expresses his sincere admiration for all the staffs and volunteers who have devoted their time, compassion and knowledge to make the Pusat Ehsan an irreplaceable and valuable charity institution for the vulnerable families and the children in need. Lee also offers his congratulations for the achievement made by the Pusat Ehsan, most notably being honoured with ASEAN Outstanding Social Welfare and Development Award (AOSWADA).
Representative Lee then shares Taiwan’s experience in virus containment and economic growth, and the Office has proactively answered the Brunei government’s call to provide Brunei National Isolation Centre and 8 Chinese schools with medical items in fighting the epidemic. Datin Noraini expresses her sincere hope that the Pusat Ehsan continues to maintain close contact with the Representative Office and children charity organizations in Taiwan, with the aim of enhancing working partnerships and manpower cultivation on a mutually beneficial basis.
