Representative Janet Chang had the pleasure of meeting with the dedicated stone sculptor Lin Li-Jen from Hualien, Taiwan, and his creative partner Cheng Yong-Duo. Representative Chang thanked the two artists for traveling a great distance to participate in a month-and-a-half-long residency stone sculpture exchange project in Rautavaara, Finland.
The Hualien County Government selected the artistic drafts through a public selection process. The final selection was made by a public vote conducted by the city of Rautavaara, and Lin Li-Jen's work "Prosperity," which is based on the Eastern Five Elements concept (Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth as the primary elements of all things), was chosen. Upon completion, the stone sculpture will be gifted to the Rautavaara city government and placed in the city's central square. This will convey blessings from Taiwan and commemorate the first stone sculpture cultural exchange between Taiwan and Finland. Please stay tuned for this event.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Hualien County Government for its strong support of this meaningful Taiwan-Finland cultural exchange project.
