MOFA would like to thank the Formosa Club in the #IndoPacific Region for expressing support for #Taiwan’s membership of the World Health Organization at their first annual assembly.
#Tuvalu Prime Minister Kausea Natano read a joint declaration on behalf of the entire club, calling on the international community to recognize Taiwan as an important partner in the global public health system and urging the World Health Organization to allow Taiwan to participate in its meetings, mechanisms and events.
In his pre-recorded address, MOFA Minister Joseph Wu stated that the Formosa Club is an important like-minded regional ally that shares the values of #freedom, #democracy and respect for #HumanRights and thanked members for their support for Taiwan.
Former VP and epidemiologist Chen Chien-jen was also invited to give a speech at the assembly, during which he used big data to analyze Taiwan’s pandemic-prevention experience and resilient and comprehensive medical system.
MOFA welcomes parliamentarians from countries across the globe to join the Formosa Club in order to show their support for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations and uphold global health, peace and prosperity.
