Shipping Firms To Submit Manifest To Customs 7 Days Before Vessel Arrival

The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has directed shipping lines to transmit electronic manifest of their cargoes to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) , and the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) seven days before the arrival of any vessel to the country.

Speaking to journalists at the end of a closed door meeting held with shipping companies at the NSC headquarters in Lagos over the weekend, senior special assistant to the President on industry, trade and investment, Jumoke Oduwole, assured that PEBEC would work with customs and the NSC to address some of the challenges the shipping companies said may arise from the new directive.
