Taiwan donates masks to Counties Manukau District Health Board

Taiwan has no local COVID-19 cases for more than 200 days. After SARS hit in 2003, Taiwan learned a lesson. People in Taiwan also know that wearing masks is a matter of life-and-death, and they are very willing to protect themselves and others through a simple action.
Knowing the importance of masks for prevention and protection, the Taiwanese government partnered with the private sector at the beginning of the epidemic and increased the daily production of masks from 2 million to 20 million in a short period. This has ensured enough masks for domestic use and enable Taiwan to help the international community afterwards.
Today, witnessed by Auckland City Councillors Alf Filipaina, Sharon Stewart, and Paul Young, Director General Jeff Liu donated 6,000 masks to the Counties Manukau District Health Board on behalf of the Taiwanese government. Jeff also thanked all the frontline medical workers for their contributions.
We thank the Board Chair Gosche and his team for the donation arrangements. Together we can defeat COVID-19.
