Taiwan and Oman have long enjoyed friendly and cordial relations. We have close cooperation in many fields. Bilateral industrial cooperation and academic exchanges are increasing year by year.
Taiwan established the "Trade Mission of R.O.C. to the Sultanate of Oman" on January 11, 1977, which was formally opened in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on March 31 of the same year. It closed on April 27, 1979, and was subsequently re-established as "The Far East Trade Service Representative Office in Muscat" on September 6 of the same year. On July 1, 1991, it was renamed the "Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Muscat, Oman."
Oman established the "Commercial Office of the Sultanate of Oman -- Taipei" in October 1, 1991.
Taiwanese citizens enjoy visa-free entry to Oman for a stay of 14 days, and can also apply online for a tourist visa for a stay of 30 days. From May 2026, Omani citizens will also enjoy 14 days visa-free entry to Taiwan for tourism and business.
In June, 2015, Oman’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) signed a contract to engage the Taipei Exchange as expert consultants. The Taipei Exchange will provide assistance in the design and development of capital market products and services in Oman aimed at supporting the growth of SME.
Taiwan looks forward to working with Oman to widen market access, expand cooperation, and take bilateral trade to new heights. We hope that enterprises from the two sides will increase their direct engagement, explore new opportunities for cooperation, and cultivate new drivers for all forms of economic cooperation.

Bilateral Trade Analysis
In 2024, Oman's exports to Taiwan reached US$2.32 billion, a 4.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2023. Oman's exports to Taiwan were mainly petroleum-related products. In 2024, Oman's imports from Taiwan reached US$294 million, a massive 290% increase compared to 2023. Oman is among Taiwan's top 30 trading partners, with most goods being refined oil products and related items. Taiwan's exports to Oman mainly consist of vehicles and parts, petrochemical products, plastic products, and machinery. Oman's exports to Taiwan are mineral fuels and petroleum oil, accounting for 90% of Taiwan's total imports from Oman, followed by chemical products, metal products, and ores.
Overall, Oman has long maintained a trade surplus with Taiwan, indicating significant potential for expansion for Taiwan businessmen. Oman's imports of computers, mobile phones and related peripherals, and auto parts from Taiwan are mostly transshipped through Dubai. Furthermore, it's worth mentioning that among Taiwan's exports to Oman, phenolic alcohols, metal-cutting lathes, and amine compounds have seen the fastest growth, with annual growth rates exceeding 100%, making them worthy of development and cooperation.
Taiwanese manufacturers have largely expanded their Omani market through transshipment traders in Dubai. The overall market size of Oman is relatively small compared to neighboring Saudi Arabia and Dubai. In addition, Oman's proximity to the UAE facilitates convenient transportation of goods and personnel between the two countries. Therefore, many Omani importers directly purchase goods in Dubai within the UAE and then ship them to Oman via land transport, or even establish a presence in the Dubai area.
TECO here in Oman will spare no effort to build bridges for communication and cooperation between our business communities and further contribute to the development of mutually beneficial and pragmatic cooperation between Taiwan and Oman.
