The Echelon 2014 conference held on 10 and 11 June 2014 at the Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre saw the participation of delegates from approximately 400 cloud computing and IT startups from 12 countries. Of the 10 startups selected to pitch at the exclusive Launchpad event, three teams, namely, iChef, Qsearch and Viscovery, are from Taiwan. iChef, in particular, captured the hearts of the judges with its point of sale (POS) app that helps restaurant owners and their employees serve a better customer experience. It was awarded the Global Brain Award and would be attending the Global Brain Conference in Japan in December this year.
In addition, this was also the first time the New Taipei City led a team comprising nine startups to participate at the conference to connect with global entrepreneurs and international venture capitalists and at the same time, learn from industry leaders who shared on their insights on channels and metrics for successful app marketing, apps to plan personalised tour routes and cloud-based applications for validation and ID protection.
