Decisions such as Duration of Stay, Enter before (valid period), Extanable or not, etc., are at the TRO's discretion. You may be given a visa that is different from the information in your application.

Who can apply?

UK/EEA passport holders who reside in the UK
Non-UK/EEA passport holders must provide a valid UK resident visa or resident card

Applicants who are not UK residents must apply for their visas at Overseas Missions of the ROC (Taiwan) in their country of residence.
Applicants who reside in southern Britain (including Guernsey and Jersey), Northern Ireland, British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos, the Falkland Islands, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Seychelles please apply with Taipei Representative Office in the UK, London Office.

Who are eligible?

Duration of stay is less than 180 days with an eligible purpose.

How to submit your application?

By post only (to 1 Melville Street, Edinburgh, EH3 7PE)

As the circumstances of each application may vary, the TRO reserves the right to request any additional supporting documents. In addition, due to Covid-19, the TRO may extend the processing time. Please submit your application at least 4 weeks before your scheduled arrival and be aware that your passport will be kept for review during the whole process.

Required Documents: (This is a general requirement, you may be asked for extra supporting information)

1.	Visa Application Form	ONLINE APPLICATION FORM for General Visa Applications. (If you have any questions about the form, please contact the Bureau of Consular Affairs.) Visa application form must be filled out online with the applicant's full name, printed, signed, and have a readable bar code on the first page.
2.	Two Colour UK Passport-Standard Size Photos	Photos must be taken within the past 6 months on a plain white or light grey background and printed on photo paper.
3.	Original Passport with One Photocopy	Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of submission and have more than one blank visa page. Applicants who renewed their passport within 6 months must also provide their previous passport. Passport will be kept in the TRO for review.
4.	Original UK Resident Visa with One Photocopy	For non-UK/EEA citizens: Original UK resident visa will be kept by TRO for review.
5.	Flight Schedule **Please fill in your intended itinerary on the application form for reference.	Please note that you are advised NOT to purchase flight tickets until you have secured a visa for travel to Taiwan.
6.	Proof of Financial Support *This is not necessary if you're sponsored by a company (eg. working visa)	Bank statements must be issued within one month before the submission date, include transaction records from the last 3 months, and include applicants’ full names, or; Original scholarship certificate issued by the Ministry of Education/Foreign Affairs (only for the purpose of studying Mandarin courses and Fellowship)
7.	Supporting Documents	Detailed Information of Supporting Documents (IMPORTANT: Please follow the link for more information.) Business: An invitation letter, contract, assignment letter, etc., clearly states the applicant's name, employer's details (eg. registration ID, address in Taiwan, tec.), and purposes for visiting. Student: (course period under 180 days) Mandarin Course: Visitor visa holders can only apply for a resident visa in Taiwan after completing 4 months of the course, please visit the Bureau of Consular Affairs for more information. The COPY of the school admission Study plan must sign and dated by the applicant Exchange: Admission Letter issued by the University in Taiwan Original school letter Exchange Agreement issued by the UK university Family: Proofs of relationships (eg. Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate.) If they are issued by UK government, they need to be legalised by FCDO / If they are NOT issued by the UK government, they need to be authenticated by the Taiwan Overseas Offices in the issuing country. A copy of ID of your family in Taiwan: for Taiwanese citizens, please provide Taiwan passport, for ARC holders, please provide a copy of ARC Please note that ARC need to still be valid at least 6 month at the point of applying)
8.	Other documents (if required)	General Health Certificate: Please note that Health Certificate is only valid for 3 months.Visa Declaration Form

The TRO reserves the right to request additional supporting documents, such as an employment letter, school letter, police record, an interview, etc., depending on the circumstances of each application after submission.
