The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival kicked off today under a cloudless sky. Director General Bill Huang was honored to join Colorado State Senator Julie Gonzales, Denver City Mayor Mike Johnston and Councilwoman Amanda Sandoval to dot the eyes of the dragon boats. Before the eye-dotting ceremony, the resident abbot, masters and followers of the Great Dharma Chan Monastery in Boulder recited Buddhist sutras and pray for blessing.
The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is the largest of its kind in the United States. A variety of food and cultural displays featuring Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage were also available at the venue. Its' definitely worth a visit.
