A major milestone for Taiwan–Kansas economic cooperation!
On October 8, Kansas Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland, representing Governor Laura Kelly, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Economic Cooperation with Director General Debby Huang , representing Taiwan, at the Kansas State Capitol. The signing marks a significant new chapter in the growing economic partnership between Taiwan and Kansas.
Kansas House Speaker Daniel Hawkins, House Majority Leader Chris Croft, Senator Brenda Dietrich, Representative Pat Proctor, and members of the Taiwanese American community in Kansas joined the signing ceremony to celebrate this important milestone and witness another great moment in Taiwan–Kansas relations!
DG Huang emphasized that the MOU represents an important step forward in deepening economic ties between Taiwan and Kansas:
“Through this MOU, Taiwan and Kansas are opening a new chapter in our economic partnership—creating opportunities for our businesses and shared prosperity for our people.”
She also expressed her hope that the agreement will encourage more Taiwanese companies to invest in Kansas, creating new connections between the two economies and further expanding opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.
LG Toland highlighted that he has personally visited Taiwan twice over the past year to explore business opportunities. Each visit, he said, has further strengthened the relationship between Taiwan and Kansas and opened new doors for commercial cooperation.
“We welcome Taiwanese businesses, investors, and partners to explore the opportunities Kansas has to offer. Today’s signing is not an ending—it is the beginning of an even stronger partnership between Kansas and Taiwan.”
The MOU identifies several key areas for future cooperation, including aerospace, aviation, advanced air mobility, biomedical and animal health, precision agriculture and logistics and distribution.
Taiwan’s strengths in technology, manufacturing, and innovation complement Kansas’s strong industrial base and business-friendly environment.
