- Citizens of India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Lao intending to visit Taiwan for a duration less than 14 days might be eligible to apply for Travel Authorization Certificate online (free of charge) instead of a visa. To apply, please click here.
- Visa types: Regardless of purpose, if you intend to visit Taiwan for a period of time less than 180 days, you may apply for a Visitor Visa. If you plan to stay more than 180 days, you should apply for a Resident Visa.

- The original (physical) passport with validity for more than six (6) months and a photo copy of the passport bio-data page;
- Two headshot photos (print in color on photo-paper, passport-sized 45 mm in height and 35 mm in width) taken during the last six months;
- For non-US-citizens, a scanned copy of US Permanent Resident Card or US visa;

- Visa application submission:
- by mail (attention: TECO NY, Consular Division (visa); Address: 1 E 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017),
- drop-off in the mailbox at the ground floor lobby during working hours (9 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday),
- hand-delivery by appointment (click for link) or walk-in-take-a-number when the consular counter is open (9 am- 1pm, Monday through Thursday).
- Visa application will not be processed until all the requirements are met. You’ll be contacted by email if additional information or extra supporting document is needed.
- Passport/Visa collection: Slots for direct walk-in pickup are from 3 pm to 4 pm on cited day (and any following Tuesday and Friday), or by appointment or walk-in-take-a-number when the counter is open (9 am- 1pm, Monday through Thursday). Please present your receipt for collection. You may designate an agent to collect on your behalf.
- A visitor visa with duration of stay more than 60 days presents the possibility, with a valid reason, of extension of duration of stay to up to 180 days in total at a local immigration service center in Taiwan.
