Diploma and Transcript Authentication
Applying the authentication for
- Both diploma and transcript: MUST submit the diploma and the "sealed" transcript.
- Diploma only: MUST submit the diploma and the "sealed" transcript.
- Transcript only: MUST submit the "sealed" transcript.
All documents must be issued by the schools in the six states under our jurisdiction. The "sealed" transcript must be in one of the following formats:
- The original transcript is issued and "sealed" in the envelope by the school. DO NOT open it.
- The digital transcript is sent directly from the school to our email (infoseattle@mofa.gov.tw). DO NOT forward from personal email accounts.
- The transcript is issued by a school-collaborated agency (such as Parchment) and sent directly to our email (infoseattle@mofa.gov.tw).

Please submit the following materials when applying:
For either walk-in applicants or applications via mailing:
- Application Form for Authentication: Each applicant must complete and sign the form. Applicants can submit multiple documents under one application.
- A clear copy of the passport: The name on the passport must match the name on the document.
- Original diploma and a clear photocopy, or a certified copy issued by the Bureau of Consular Affairs: If the applicant only provides a photocopy, the original must also be provided for verification to ensure that the original and photocopy match. If the applicant provides a photocopy that is issued by the Bureau of Consular Affairs as a certified copy, there is no need to provide the original for verification.
- Sealed transcript: Must be in one of the formats as described.
Notes:
- If the submitted diploma is a certified copy issued by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, the authentication fee for THAT diploma would be charged by the Bureau of Consular Affairs instead of our office.
- If the application requires authentication of a Chinese translation of the document and is within our jurisdiction, please refer to the " Regulations for Chinese Translations" section on our official website. For the authentication of the Chinese translation, a copy of the Taiwanese ID must be provided to verify the applicant's Chinese name on the translation.
- Additional identification might be requested while the documents are reviewing.
